Reduce risks
Lastly, you can reduce risks, and we know, for example, in 2020 that Citigroup was fined four hundred million dollars for failing to govern their data effectively and systematic lack of risk controls. This is an enormous fine, and if you get hit by this, it’s going to come right off the bottom line.
This kind of fine is entirely avoidable if you can quantify the risk and you can go and mitigate it before it occurs.

Avoid data breaches
We also know from IBM that the risk of a data breach is large and getting larger, and the cost per record stands at $180 today. That is a vast amount of money if you have millions of customers. We’ve also got regulations tightening around the world around private information, personally identifiable information with GDPR leading the charge there in Europe and massive fines being levied against companies for non-compliance.
